I suggest you pick your stocks singly, by yourself, understanding the products of the companies in which you are investing. I am not Muslim, but I personally do not like stocks that make their profit by what I, by my own personal values, think of as "dirty money". That includes tobacco, handguns, pawnshops, casinos, and commercial prisons to name a few.

Muslim or not, I applaud a person who is morally comfortable with their investments. Good for you and I wish you good fortune in your investments.

Brother, to put it bluntly, if it would make some profit for you, would you invest in a gun that would unjustly kill me? Everything that is haram is made so as there are inherent wrongs to some weak people. If so many people get drunk, some will have an accident and kill someone. If so many guns are made, a certain percentage of people my be killed etc. Ultimately all sins lead to the death of someone or something if you study it deep enough.

Would you invest in a business which is run by mafia when you have no other investment left?

Life is sacred, yours or someone elses. When you are allowed to drink alchohol in the desert situation, not drinking would cause you a greater bodily and permanent harm.

Poverty is not that bad. One can be poor and still be happy, if one has the right controls in hand. Death or destruction of someone or some family is a one way loss. Once lost, it can never be recovered.

If you will make a firm determination that you will not invest in anything wrong or haram, regardless of whether you find some profitable mutual fund or not, THEN you will see several opportunities to make a profit from mutual funds that will also make you a profit. Make that niyyaa with a firm heart and be amazed at the resources of the Lord Most High.

Try it!!

Blessings be upon you for trying to live your faith.

There are mutual funds that do follow the teachings. See the link below. It discusses the performance of such mutual funds.

You will need to create your own portfolio in order to avoid violations . For example , you can select 50 stocks that invest only in oil , goat herding , fish (other than catfish and others that lack scales ) , and other companies that pass mustard and don't deal directly with the Jews .
